10 Places To Find Blogs In Your Niche
Carl Ocab, a popular blogger in the Make Money Online niche, wrote a great blog post recommending how to find blogs in your niche. His 7 suggestions were:
- WhosTalkin
- Google Blog Search
- Technorati
- StumbleUpon
- Delicious
- Ask Blog Search
- Google Reader
I’ll let you read Carl’s blog for the descriptions. Some of these are at the top of my list as well, but I think Carl’s list is a bit incomplete. Here are three other resources you can use to find blogs in your niche:
- Twitter – Twitter is included in the search at WhosTalkin, but if you can go right to the source then I think you can get better information. Use Twitter’s search feature at search.twitter.com and search by keyword. Also, Twellow, a yellow pages for Twitter, is a good source.
- Alltop – Lists the best blogs in every niche under the sun. About as close to an online magazine rack as you can get.
- BlogCatalog – BlogCatalog is the premier blog community. If there is a niche with a blog then you can bet it’s listed here. If not then it’s probably not worth following.
Why Blogs Get Ranked Faster Than Websites
If you’re wonder whether blogs or websites are easier to rank in the search engines, consider these attributes of blogs that make them easier to rank and allow you better marketing opportunities:
- Daily posting invites search bots more often – A daily blog post will keep the search engine spiders returning to your website to crawl it every day.
- More opportunities to rank in the search engines – For every post that you post on your blog, that’s one more way a visitor can find you.
- Ping services keep your blog posts visible - By pinging the various ping services every time you post to your blog you are keeping your blog visible in the blog directories and ping services such as Technorati.

- Social bookmarking drives more traffic and links to your blog – By using social bookmarking services to promote your blog, you attract more visitors and more links and the social bookmarking links sometimes act as inbound links that drive up your PageRank.
- A well-optimized blog post can rank faster – Since the search engines are visiting your blog more often any activity that you do on that domain will get your blog ranked faster for the keywords that you are targeting.
Even though a blog has the potential to get you more traffic and get you more visibility in the search engines faster than a static website, you still don’t want your blog to be your primary website. People don’t buy from blogs. They read them for information. They will then visit your website and make their purchase there.
