How A Blog Promotion Newsletter Sends Repeat Traffic To Your Blog

One sure way to ensure you keep a steady flow of blog readers is to publish a weekly blog promotion newsletter. This tool is real simple. Based on a company newsletter, the focus is a little different. The idea is to provide a synopsis of your blog posts from the past week for your subscribers. The newsletter goes out weekly and features one post from each day of the week. Each entry in the newsletter shows a summary of each blog post with a link back to that post on your blog. The blog promotion newsletter is great for driving repeat traffic to your blog.

One reason you want to publish a blog promotion newsletter is because many people today still are not familiar with RSS news feeds and feed readers. Giving those people an option to subscribe to your blog through your newsletter helps them stay on top of your most recent content without the hassle and inconvenience of learning new software. It’s perfect if your clientele consists of a large number of people who are not Internet or technology savvy.

The Content Letter: Why We Use A Double Opt-In Process

Browsing through Constant Contact’s back end for our company newsletter, The Content Letter, I recently discovered that we have 23 unconfirmed e-mail addresses. These are e-mail addresses for people who have attempted to opt-in to our newsletter, but for one reason or another did not click the link in the confirmation e-mail that was sent in order to activate their submission.

There are several reasons why this could have happened. The e-mail could have landed in the person’s junk mail and they haven’t seen it, or they may have just forgotten about it and never clicked the link. I have done this several times myself after signing up for a newsletter that I thought I wanted. Some of them may have changed their minds after signing up for the newsletter. And, of course, some of them are likely spammers.

Spammers sign up for e-mail newsletters hoping to find an easy doorway into becoming a weed in someone’s rose garden. That’s why I like double opt-in lists. The individual has to confirm their subscription and spammers aren’t likely to do that simply because it takes up more of their time than an e-mail address is worth. All they really want to do is to get the e-mail address of the person sending the newsletter so that they can reply to an issue with their own spam. If they sign up for thousands of newsletters a day with that intention and only a handful of them are double opt-in newsletters then they have a low pay out in time commitment. That’s why we have opted to use the double opt-in process. It cuts down on spam.

If you have signed up for The Content Letter any time between mid-December and now and have not received an issue, it may be because you have not confirmed your e-mail address. Please search your junk mail folder and click the confirmation link. Otherwise, we will be cleaning out unconfirmed list and will delete all unconfirmed e-mails. We’ll give you one week. After that, you’ll have to opt in again.

If you are not receiving The Content Letter at this time, I encourage you to sign up for our newsletter by going to the Blog Content Provider website and entering your e-mail address into the sign up box at the top of the page just below the menu bar.

E-mail Is Your Best Blog Promotion Tool

The latest figures telling who subscribes to RSS feeds show that only 20% of blog readers actually subscribe to RSS feeds. That means the other 80% of your blog readers are likely arriving to your blog from search engines and other advertising that you are doing. Some of them may be entering your URL directly into their browser. But you can increase your blog readership with one simple tool for only $100 per month. This offer is good for all current blogging customers of Blog Content Provider.

Everyone uses e-mail. Even if they don’t understand RSS technology or blogs. They still read e-mail. Chances are, you have an e-mail list, a list of subscribers to a company newsletter or addresses that you’ve collected over the years. Don’t just let it collect dust. Put that list to good use.

Yesterday I wrote about a satisfied client of ours who promotes her blog through a blog promotion newsletter. I believe this is the best way to promote your blog today. Let your e-mail subscribers know about your blog posts. Otherwise, they may not be reading it.

Blog Marketing: How A Newsletter Can Increase Your Blog’s Traffic

How are you promoting your blog?

Just like any other kind of marketing, blog marketing requires a strategy. You can add your blog to blog directories (and you should) and hope for more traffic. You can trackback and leave comments on other blogs (and you should). You can also purchase banner advertising or exchange links and banners with other bloggers. All of that is well and good, but how about regular readers? How about “touch and go?”

It takes 7 times of “touching” a potential customer with your message before they act on it. So what 7 ways are you reaching them?

One way should be with a blog marketing newsletter. The point is to drive traffic to your blog using a simple newsletter as a tool. The way it works is like this:

You include a summary of your blog posts from the past week in each issue of your newsletter. Then you link that summary to the appropriate blog post to get your newsletter readers back to your blog to read it. Why would you do that?

Not everyone uses RSS feeds. Many of your blog readers may not be familiar with RSS. They may not understand it or be afraid to try it because they aren’t familiar with the technology. But everyone understand e-mail. By placing an opt-in box on your blog and your website and inviting people to sign up for your newsletter, you can keep those people informed of your latest blog posts and invite them back to read your blog every week.
