So Many Blogs, How Can I Stand Out?

If you’re wondering how you can make a difference with your blog online then I’ve got to say that is a legitimate concern. There are a lot of blogs out there.

There are some bona fide ways to make your blogs stand out though. And I’m not going to fill your ear with all the usual talk about link bait and awesome writing. Hemingway likely would not have done well with a blog.

You’ve got to see blogging as a different genre of writing. It’s in a class all by itself. You’re not writing your memoirs, you’re not writing the Great American Novel, and you aren’t penning Amazing Grace. This is heartfelt writing at its best.

There are primarily three things you should do with your blog:

• Talk directly to your target audience – not at them, but to them
• Provide valuable information that will keep readers coming back for more
• Get yourself found in the search engines and social media sites

Wonderful! But How Do You Make Your blog Really Shine?

I can’t teach you how to do No. 1. But you have to respect your readers. Don’t expect them to read your blog because you think it’s cool. You have to provide information they want and are willing to spend the time to read. By giving away your free information you can build trust and credibility enough that people might actually do business with you.

The real hard part for most people is No. 3. Even some Internet marketers have trouble with this one. SEO is not hard, but you have to know what search engines want to feed on and give them that. You know a spider will eat little bugs that get caught in its web. Well, that’s what your keywords are, little bugs. Get them caught in the web. But how about search media? What’s the trick there?

Make it interesting. Make it so interesting that people want to share it with their friends. If it’s interesting enough, people will share it and when the find out that you wrote it, they will likely visit your website to see what else you have to offer.
