Don’t Use Time Stamping In Your Blog

I know that time stamping your blog posts is a good way to manage your time. If you write several posts at once and time stamp them each for a different day, it saves you time. I’ve used it a lot in the past.

However, blog and ping is the method by which we all get more traffic and so far wordpress doesn’t have that worked out for time stampers.

When you hit the publish button in your wordpress blog, wordpress pings all the sites you have put into your ping list under options/writing in the admin area.

When you hit publish it sends that ping right then, even if you used the time stamp feature to publish that post later on your blog. So in effect, you end up sending out a url to a blog post that does not actually exist yet to all the places you ping from your list.

It won’t actually hurt your blog if you time stamp your posts but it likely won’t get you traffic that you could be getting. Try saving those extra posts as drafts and then log in once per day to publish your already-written post if you want to write several of them at once.

If you are going on vacation, make a few blog posts, save them as drafts, and get someone else to login each days and publish them.
