How Often Should You Blog?
There is no easy answer to the “how often” question. The real answer is as often as you can fit it in. But what does that mean?
You can blog once a month, twice a week, infrequently, frequently with no set pattern, daily, semi-daily, multiple times daily, or however often you can fit it into your schedule. I recommend most bloggers to blog at least once a day, but you can do it more often. I would further recommend not blogging any less than once a week. There are several reasons why:
- Since every blog post you write is a separate web page, which means potential customers have more opportunities to find you in the search engines and click a link that takes them to your website, every time you post you are increasing your brand awareness
- Piggybacking on the point above, it is rather obvious that a daily blog post will deliver 30 marketing opportunities to each search engine while a weekly blog post will produce only four; more is better, right?
- Blogging is the perfect reputation management tool – more is better
- Vertical marketing – include photos, podcasts, video, etc.
- Bottom line: More is better
When it comes to blogging, more is definitely better. Every known benefit of blogging is increased the more you do it. Why limit yourself to one or two posts per month when you can blog every day and get there faster? Why walk to the grocery store when you can drive and get there faster plus be able to carry more groceries back home with you on your return.
Of course, we understand that some circumstances prevent some business owners from blogging every day. If all you can do is once a week then by all means that is better than nothing. But you should step it up if you can. If you can’t, you might benefit from hiring a ghostwriter who can do it for you. Remember, more is better.
